How we rank free AI agents

Our goal is to be the most trustworthy answer to "what's the best free AI agent for X." Here's how we decide what to list and how we order it.

What we evaluate

• Real free path — fully free, a usable free tier, or open-source self-hosting. We state exactly what the free tier includes.
• Capability — does it act as an agent (multi-step, tool-using), and how well does it do the job?
• Setup & privacy — how hard it is to start, and where your data goes.
• Upgrade path — if you outgrow the free tier, is the paid step fair?
• Freshness — we re-check tools regularly and show a "last reviewed" date on every page.

Editorial independence

Rankings are editorial. Affiliate relationships and sponsorships never buy a better position — sponsored placements are always labelled "Sponsored," and the rest of the list is ordered on merit. If we ever can't be objective about a tool, we say so.

Corrections

AI tools change fast. If a free tier or feature is out of date, tell us via the submission form and we'll fix it.
